Sector Update: Healthcare Stocks Rise Premarket Monday

Healthcare stocks were rising premarket Monday, with the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) advancing by 1.2% and the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) 0.3% higher.

GSK (GSK) licensor Hansoh Pharmaceutical reported that a phase 3 trial evaluating risvutatug rezetecan, or Ris-Rez, against commonly used topotecan in patients with relapsed small-cell lung cancer met its primary endpoint. GSK stock was up more than 4% pre-bell.

Astrazeneca (AZN) shares were up more than 2% after the company said a late-stage study of its drug Enhertu showed a six-month improvement in median progression-free survival as a first-line treatment for advanced HER2-mutant non-small cell lung cancer.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) stock was up more than 1% after the company said a phase 3 trial of its lung cancer drug Rybrevant combined with chemotherapy resulted in a median overall survival of 34.3 months. Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported that Apollo Global Management (APO) is in talks to acquire Johnson & Johnson's hips-and-knees business for about $20 billion.
