Ford Motor (F) Chief Executive Jim Farley rejected claims that the automaker is overly reliant on Chinese companies, calling them "basic misunderstandings," The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
Farley said Duffy's letter mischaracterized Ford's overseas partnerships and Michigan battery plant, while denying that the company proposed a US framework for joint ventures with Chinese automakers, according to the report.
The exchange highlights tensions within the Trump administration over Ford's strategy as Washington seeks to curb Chinese automakers' US expansion, the report added.
Ford Motor did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
