Anthropic has given the European Union's cybersecurity authority access to its powerful Mythos artificial intelligence model after months of talks with the officials in the bloc.

"Following our constructive engagement with Anthropic, we can confirm that the EU's cybersecurity agency Enisa has been granted access to Mythos 5," European Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier said on Thursday.

A spokesperson for Enisa also confirmed that it has access to Anthropic's Mythos 5 model and has been testing it this month.

It comes roughly four months after the commission--the EU's executive arm--first said it was in discussions with the company over Mythos 5, which can spot vulnerabilities in computer code and has sparked national security concerns from officials on either side of the Atlantic. The company only released the model to around 50 companies and organizations including Amazon Web Services and JPMorgan Chase initially in April, before expanding its release to around 150 organizations in June.

Cyber officials had been in talks with Anthropic since May about testing Mythos 5, which resulted in months of back and forth between the two sides.

U.S. President Trump's administration then moved to ban foreign entities from using Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5 tools in June, prompting the company to shut off access altogether. The White House allowed the company to re-offer access to Mythos 5 to a limited group of companies and governments weeks later.

The EU's cyber agency has also gained access to rival OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Cyber and new GPT-6-ASTRA, the commission spokesperson said.
