Materials Down, but not by Much, as Copper Hits Record High - Materials Roundup

Producers of metals, grains and other raw materials fell, but not by as much as the broad market, as copper futures hit record highs.

Trade disruptions and supply outages have spurred copper prices. The metal's importance in electrical wiring and infrastructure has also made it a popular proxy for betting on the artificial-intelligence boom.

Gold futures slipped as traders hedged their bets ahead of key inflation data.
