Shares of Lakeland Industries fell after the safety-gear maker swung to a second-quarter loss and reported a larger revenue decline than analysts were expecting.
The stock slid 16%, to $9.25, midday Thursday, but has gained 4.6% this year.
The Huntsville, Ala., company on Wednesday reported a loss of $4.9 million, or 50 cents a share, compared with a profit of $766,000, or 8 cents a share, a year earlier.
Revenue fell to $50.1 million from $52.5 million.
Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting a loss of 7 cents a share on $51.4 million in revenue.
Chief Executive Officer Jim Jenkins said the company expects to return to more consistent growth beginning in the second half of the year.
