Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) targets a 15% annual throughput increase in 2026, following a 14% increase in 2025, a company executive said Friday during a House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense field hearing.

Eric Chewning, an executive vice president of Huntington Ingalls Industries, said the company plans to deliver ships to the US Navy "at a greater pace." The strategy covers retaining a competent workforce, modernizing shipbuilding infrastructure, and expanding the company's maritime industrial base, according to Chewning.

The industrial base expansion is ongoing, with plans to outsource more than 2 million hours of work in 2026, the executive added.
