Graphex Group Limited announced that its research project, EcoFlux, has been selected as a 2026 R&D 100 Award winner, marking international recognition of the Group’s innovation in battery materials. The accolade underscores the technological significance of EcoFlux, a production technology for natural graphite anode material co-developed by Graphex Innovation and Technology Limited—an indirect wholly owned subsidiary—and the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) under the Hong Kong ITF Scheme.
EcoFlux integrates hard-carbon infilling and fast-ion coating through an eco-friendly aqueous process. According to the company, the resulting spherical natural graphite delivers less than 5% anode swelling, enables charging in under 20 minutes, enhances reversible capacity, and nearly doubles battery cycle life. These performance metrics position EcoFlux-based anodes for fast-charging, long-life, and high-energy battery applications.
Two patent applications covering EcoFlux technology have been filed in China and the United States, reinforcing intellectual-property protection ahead of planned industrialisation.
Established in 1963, the R&D 100 Awards—often referred to as the “Oscars of Invention”—honour the 100 most technologically significant products and technologies introduced to the market over the preceding year.
Graphex Group stated that industrial production of natural graphite anode material leveraging EcoFlux will proceed “as soon as practicable,” aligning with its strategic objective to secure a leadership position in graphene-related businesses.
