Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Z74) and Gulf Development Public Company Limited on Sep, 10 2026 announced a strategic partnership to develop new submarine cable connectivity between Thailand and Singapore.

The first initiative will be a joint investment in the Vietnam-Thailand-Singapore (VTS) Cable System, which is expected to enter service by 2030 with capital expenditure spread over several years.

The partners said the project will cater to growing regional demand for cloud, AI, data centre and other digital services, and that they may consider further investments in terrestrial and additional subsea cable networks.

The agreement builds on existing collaborations between the two companies in Thailand across telecommunications and data centre businesses.
