JD.com Flagship Water Purifier Allegedly Sold as "Safe for Infant Use" Found Contaminated in August Consumer Complaint Rankings

Black Cat Complaint Platform has released its August enterprise complaint handling rankings, with data sourced directly from the platform's user reports. As of the end of August 2026, the platform has accumulated over 38.12 million valid consumer complaints, with enterprises responding to more than 29.69 million and successfully resolving nearly 25.28 million cases. August alone saw over 640,000 new valid complaints. To provide more precise and timely insights across different consumer sectors, the rankings are organized both by industry and by "Most Watched Categories" that align with recent hot-button consumption events, offering consumers more valuable purchasing references.

In a notable case this month, numerous consumers reported purchasing the 352 A418H water heating purifier from JD.com's self-operated store, drawn in by marketing claims of "safe for direct infant consumption" and UV sterilization features. However, in August 2026, the brand itself acknowledged that the machine's output water had severe bacterial contamination and advised against drinking it directly. Despite pulling old models from shelves and launching new versions that required consumers to pay for replacements, customer service representatives continued to assure users that "UV sterilization means there's nothing to worry about." Consumers have called this false advertising, criticizing the brand for failing to issue a recall and instead forcing users to bear the upgrade cost.

In closing, the platform reiterates that it charges no fees whatsoever for assisting with consumer disputes. Any individual or entity claiming to represent the platform or its partners while requesting payment for complaint resolution is committing fraud. Consumers are urged to remain vigilant, report such accounts to the platform immediately, and contact local authorities. After filing a complaint on the platform, dispute resolution is handled directly between the business and the consumer; platform staff never proactively contact users to facilitate refunds. Always use official channels to address disputes and be wary of third parties offering paid "refund assistance." Official complaint channels include the Black Cat Complaint website, its mobile app available from legitimate app stores, and its mini-programs on WeChat, Baidu, Alipay, and Douyin. To protect personal information, users should avoid revealing names, contact details, addresses, or order numbers in complaint submissions, and blur sensitive images. Never trust unsolicited messages offering special resolution channels, do not add strangers via QQ or WeChat, and be cautious of anyone requesting bank card details, passwords, ID numbers, or verification codes. Be especially wary of calls from numbers beginning with 00, regardless of the displayed name. Legitimate refunds are always processed through the original payment method; any request for payment via alternate channels or for "release fees" or "verification deposits" is a scam. The platform only accepts complaints related to real consumer disputes and appreciates users' understanding and support.
