Zebra Intelligence CSO: On-Device AI Operating Without Connectivity Is Poised to Become the Dominant Force

The Polymer Intelligence Industry Development Conference (2026), co-hosted by the Polymer Intelligence Industry Innovation Center and Hubei Science and Technology Investment, convened on September 9 in Wuhan's Optics Valley. Xing Yue, Chief Strategy Officer at Zebra Intelligence, stated that for polymer intelligence to achieve widespread adoption across robotics, intelligent vehicles, and low-altitude equipment, on-device intelligence capable of offline operation will inevitably become the mainstream approach.

"If we envision polymer intelligence reaching boundless horizons, whether for robots, vehicles, or low-altitude applications, the path forward demands that on-device intelligence work seamlessly without network access," Xing Yue explained. He elaborated that vast streams of personal privacy data and comprehensive environmental information cannot be entirely uploaded to the cloud. Simultaneously, a wide range of intelligent equipment imposes stringent latency requirements at the edge. These twin imperatives—real-time responsiveness and data privacy—firmly position on-device intelligence as the prevailing industrial trajectory.

Xing Yue further disclosed that collaborative development is already underway, involving 14 automotive brands including XPeng, alongside chip manufacturers, robotics companies, and Tsinghua Jiuguang. The collective objective is to establish on-device models as the foundational infrastructure underpinning the polymer intelligence industry.
