At a regular press briefing held on September 10, foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun addressed a query from a Reuters reporter regarding a recommendation by India's Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, to launch an inquiry into Xiaomi Corp.. The suggested probe is reportedly tied to alleged violations by the company in its business model and compliance with foreign investment regulations.
In response, Guo stated, "I am not aware of the specific situation you mentioned. China-India economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win in nature. It is hoped that India will provide a fair, just, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for enterprises from all countries to invest and operate in India."
The remarks underscore Beijing's position that collaborative economic ties should be safeguarded, while refraining from commenting directly on the pending legal actions by Indian authorities.
