Huanghe River Hairy Crabs Hit the Market, Adding a New Specialty to Shanxi's Offerings

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the season of plump rice and flavorful crabs arrives. Recently, the Huanghe River hairy crabs from Jiaobei Town, Linyi County, Shanxi Province, have begun to hit the market in succession.

These crabs thrive in the wetland environment along the Huanghe River, resulting in sweet and tender meat that has gained strong popularity in the market. Linyi County, located along the banks of the Huanghe River, boasts vast expanses of beach and wetland areas. In recent years, the local government has leveraged the superior water quality and suitable climate conditions to develop a "southern crab, northern farming" model.

Through years of exploration and innovation, what was once barren beachland has transformed into a source of prosperity for local villagers. In the lead-up to the Mid-Autumn Festival, purchasing agents from various regions come specifically to acquire these crabs. Currently, the cultivation area for Huanghe River hairy crabs in Linyi County has expanded to over 5,000 mu, with an expected total yield of 1 million jin.
