Gan&Lee Pharmaceuticals Begins Phase I Dosing in GZC8072 Obesity and Diabetes Study

Gan&Lee Pharmaceuticals (SH: 603087) has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gan&Lee Pharmaceuticals Shandong Co., Ltd., has successfully administered the first dose to a volunteer in a Phase I clinical trial for its novel drug candidate, GZC8072, which is being conducted in China.

GZC8072 is a next-generation, biased ultra-long-acting oral polypeptide weekly preparation. The therapy is being developed as a potential treatment for obesity, overweight, and type 2 diabetes. The company received the Drug Clinical Trial Approval Notices from the National Medical Products Administration for these two indications in August and September 2026, respectively.

The clinical development of this candidate is progressing as scheduled, with the first subject having now been dosed in the Phase I portion of the study. GZC8072 represents a significant milestone, as no GLP-1 oral weekly formulation has yet received market approval anywhere in the world. As of June 30, 2026, the company has invested a total of RMB 66.33 million in the GZC8072 project's research and development.
