LG U+ has introduced a new residential security package in South Korea, combining hardware and software under a single subscription plan priced at 5,500 won per month on a three-year contract, which is approximately 27.5 yuan at current exchange rates.

The offering, branded as 'Homecam Lite', bundles a home surveillance camera, cloud storage, and insurance coverage for fire damage and losses resulting from video hacking incidents, and it is open to broadband subscribers of other carriers as well.

According to the company, home cameras have evolved beyond simple live viewing and are now commonly used for tasks like pet monitoring and childcare, making them a core component of smart home IoT ecosystems.

With this move, LG U+ aims to deliver a cost-effective, integrated solution that addresses growing consumer concerns about home security.

The service is particularly targeted at new parents and pet-owning households, and includes compensation of up to 50 million won (about 250,000 yuan) for fire-related incidents, as well as up to 2 million won (about 10,012 yuan) for losses caused by camera hacking.

The bundled 'Momca Lite' camera supports QHD resolution and features detection for people, pets, moving objects, and sound, along with tracking capabilities that allow the lens to follow detected subjects while sending real-time alerts to users via a mobile app.

Video can be recorded continuously for 24 hours on an SD card, and users receive 20GB of complimentary cloud storage.

On the security front, the camera includes a chip based on Physical Unclonable Function technology, which generates a unique encryption key for each device to reduce risks of cloning or counterfeiting.

The service also supports two-step login verification and encrypted video data transmission.
