An agricultural product export matching and tasting event for Hebei Province was held on September 4th in She County, Handan City, showcasing the region's growing international footprint.
Over 60 premium agricultural export enterprises from across the province participated in the event, which drew numerous domestic and international buyers for product sampling and business discussions. Organized by the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the gathering featured product presentations, market demand briefings, tasting sessions, and precise matchmaking opportunities. A dedicated exhibition area for premium goods was established, creating a platform for Hebei's agricultural products to be showcased, exchanged, and traded internationally—highlighting the province's competitive advantages and helping local agribusinesses expand into overseas markets.
She County, a fully mountainous region, boasts layered stone terraces recognized as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System, which also serve as prime growing grounds for Sichuan pepper. The Qingyanshan Agricultural Products Professional Cooperative, situated in She County's core pepper-producing area, dispatches batches of high-quality pepper products from this location to markets across China and worldwide. "Our pepper products are sold to Southeast Asia, and demand continues to outpace supply," stated Zhao Yongping, chairman of the cooperative.
At Handan City's Xunni Agricultural Science and Technology Co., Ltd. cold-water fish breeding base, rows of standardized aquaculture ponds display clear spring water circulating continuously, while sturgeon measuring one to two meters in length and weighing 100 to 200 kilograms swim actively within. "Our premium product, caviar, comes from these sturgeon species, which require a growth cycle of over eight years before harvest," explained Du Zhichao, production manager at Xunni Technology. The company has established a research and production facility for sturgeon and salamander cold-water fish, offering not only primary products like sturgeon meat and caviar but also value-added items such as sturgeon bone powder, sturgeon oil, and collagen peptide powder derived from sturgeon meat.
Gao Jinzheng, director of the Distributor Working Committee at the China Food Industry Association, noted that the event displayed numerous high-quality Hebei agricultural products well-suited to emerging market demands. He indicated plans to bring in additional purchasing resources to facilitate Hebei's products reaching national and global markets.
Leveraging its advantageous location surrounding Beijing and Tianjin, coupled with distinctive mountainous and hilly resources, Hebei has prioritized specialty farming, deep processing, and brand agriculture. This strategy has cultivated a wide range of premium export goods, including grains, oils, fruits, vegetables, livestock, poultry, and traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, resulting in a modern agricultural system characterized by scale, standardization, integrated supply chains, and strong branding. Currently, Hebei's specialty agricultural products are exported to more than 170 countries and regions.
"We hope this event serves as an opportunity to further establish an agricultural exchange and cooperation platform, achieve precise matching between producers and buyers, enhance the international recognition and market competitiveness of Hebei's agricultural products, and help our distinctive offerings penetrate global markets," said a representative from the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
