Recent data from the Qinghai Electric Power Trading Center reveals that in July, the province's spot market settlement trial saw 11 grid-side energy storage facilities participate actively, alongside 22 additional storage units bundled with renewable energy sources.
Storage charge and discharge average declared prices were 82 yuan/MWh and 218 yuan/MWh respectively. Independent storage facilities achieved a clearing charge-discharge price spread of 190 yuan/MWh, equivalent to 0.19 yuan/kWh. The average daily clearing volume in the real-time market for storage stood at 0.08 billion kWh, accounting for 4% of the total market share.
Turning to other market participants, the generation side saw ten thermal power units, 104 wind farms, and 298 solar photovoltaic installations engaging in the spot market with both quantity and price declarations. Other renewable entities participated either by declaring only quantities or abstaining from declarations based on their specific conditions. On the consumption side, 33 wholesale large users, 50 retail electricity companies, and agency-purchased electricity users participated without quantity or price declarations.
Generation-side declaration and clearing prices ranged from 80 to 650 yuan/MWh, with the actual highest bid at 650 yuan/MWh and the lowest at 80 yuan/MWh. Bids predominantly clustered around 80 yuan/MWh, resulting in an average declared price of 124 yuan/MWh. Thermal power declared at an average of 547 yuan/MWh, wind at 81 yuan/MWh, and solar PV at 80 yuan/MWh.
The real-time market's average daily clearing volume reached 2.04 billion kWh, distributed as follows: solar PV led with 1.22 billion kWh (60%), followed by wind at 0.61 billion kWh (30%), thermal at 0.13 billion kWh (6%), and storage at 0.08 billion kWh (4%). Clearance prices in the real-time market averaged 172 yuan/MWh for thermal, 125 yuan/MWh for wind, 91 yuan/MWh for solar, and 112 yuan/MWh across the entire generation side.
In a related development, the State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company has summarized the province's independent storage grid connection status. As of July 31st, cumulative new energy storage project grid connections reached 605MW, marking a 38.3% year-on-year increase. This brings the province's total energy storage capacity to 4,214.5MW.
By the end of July, the number of dispatchable storage stations in Qinghai had grown by 28% compared to the previous year, indicating continuous improvement in the standardized utilization of storage resources. Furthermore, charge-discharge hours for generation-side storage increased by 37% year-on-year, significantly boosting overall storage utilization efficiency.
In grid connection services, State Grid Qinghai Electric Power has effectively shortened project connection cycles, reducing average connection time by 47% year-on-year, which has significantly accelerated the efficiency of storage project implementation and commissioning.
